Hi, been doing Graphic Design and "art" since 1987. Went to McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Worked as a four color process printing Graphic Designer in print media. My first job was as an "Art Director" for The Big Picture in Lake Charles, Louisiana where I was lucky and skilled enough to make Conoco Oil, one of our first big clients very happy. Hired another designer, and then later moved to North Carolina to be with family and relatives. Landed a job at Nationwide Golf & Printing, now Print USA, Inc. in Fayetteville, NC and designed Score Cards for Golf courses all over the USA and the World. As well did all sorts of other design work while there. After that landed a better design position at Williams Printing on Bragg Blvd in Fayetteville, NC and worked until my health issues made it impossible to stay on full time due to Insulin dependent diabetes.
Currently do freelance design work as I recover from a kidney/pancreas duel transplant at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. I had type one insulin dependent diabetes for 38 years and won my war with it finally with the duel transplants. Writing a book that I'll illustrate myself as well about the experience of living with diabetes for so long and surviving to get a transplant and the effect it has had on my design career. Have yet to decide what route I'll take for publishing it.
I am currently super happy and very blessed to be granted the gift of life, although sad for the donor who was only a young teen who died over the Christmas Holidays in December 2011 to make all this possible for my life. Her willingness to be a donor has made me more focused on being more productive in my life to honor the living memory of her inside of me. I have yet to learn who she was if the family permits, only know the basics about my donor.
Look forward to posting more work to this site, some I will give away, others I will sell because I have financial obligations that I need to meet. Any interested in knowing more about me feel free to contact me via Facebook, Dwight J. Emery in Spring Lake, North Carolina.
Nice meeting a lot of you by your work you have posted, some nice vector designs I have enjoyed and downloaded for reference and idea building and such.
